This delicate natural turquoise Heishi necklace is handcrafted by artists of the Santo Domingo tribe in New Mexico. This ancient process of jewelry-making involves slicing the raw material into tiny slices, drilling holes, stringing the slices, grinding the strand by hand on a stone wheel, and finally sanding and polishing gradually. The final product of smooth, tiny beads is strung on a piece of sinew to create an airy, bright, and precious necklace, with unique variations in each stone and strand.
