Anne Sportun has always had a passion for jewelry making and design. After experimenting in her father’s basement workshop, she delivered her first wholesale jewelry order when she was sixteen years old. Several years later she decided to defer her academic studies in Archaeology in order to enroll in a three-year Jewellery Arts Program. This was the beginning of something big for Sportun.
Sportun registered her company Experimental Jewelry Works in 1987, while still holding a few odd jobs to make ends meet. Anne met her future business partner, Barbara Kelly while working part-time in an architect’s office.
They’re the perfect pair. Barbara represents the work at trunk shows and international trade shows, while Anne devotes her time to the studio and her chic Queen Street West store in Toronto. Each piece of Anne Sportun jewelry is handcrafted by the company’s team of highly-skilled goldsmiths in downtown Toronto.
Using traditional gold-smithing techniques with 18k yellow gold, 14k white gold, diamonds, and assorted precious and semi-precious stones, Anne Sportun pieces are truly wearable treasures.
